More Than Six Months After Groundbreaking there is no forward movement on garage. Read the full story here: Stuck in Park
I have been watching this project for a while now, I have even tried to reach out to VFL Development several times with no response.
Having a passion for this industry, and understanding the benefits robotic parking adds to quality of life, I try to assist and advise competitors, governments or any other institution to help complete the project.
However this project from the beginning has been so secretive that I was not able to lend assistance. It is my understanding from reading several press releases and articles written about the project that an Automotion Robotic Parking System is planned to be used.
I see no listing on Automotion’s web site indicating that they are involved in this project. This makes me wonder if the project has been cancelled. If anyone has any info on this project please let me know so I can keep my subscribers up to date.

In a story filed by NY1’s Real Estate reporter the Automated Parking Garage is hailed as a new, high-tech system that is surprisingly environmentally friendly.
An automated parking system is no longer a dream in an auto show or a fancy display trick at a car dealership, but is now the latest perk in luxury real estate. “Automatic parking is the ability for a customer to drive in, take their keys, leave their car for the machine to park. It is a hands-free, person-free parking process,” says Ari Milstein of Automotion Parking Systems. Read more

The new ONE48 Condominiums, located at 148 East 24th Street in Gramercy Park, have finally hit the market with occupancy expected to start in fall. In addition to the luxury amenities of a common roof terrace, bike storage, and a live-in super, there will be a media room where a ballet of cars can be monitored. According to the press release the fully automated parking garage ensures that cars are never touched or driven in the attendant-free park-and-lock system…. ONE48 residents will be able to watch the entire state-of-the-art parking and retrieval process — an elaborate display of synchronized movements considered therapeutic in comparable buildings — from the common media room.

How about letting robots park your car?
Posted on | May 31, 2011 | No Comments
An excerpt from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette mentioned Robotic Parking and other high-tech innovations in the parking industry recently featured at the International Parking Institute Convention:
Boomerang Systems of Morristown, N.J., displayed a robotic garage at which drivers pull into an entrance-level stall, punch in some information and have their cars whisked away on wheeled, computer-controlled pallets that shuffle and arrange the parked cars in all of the garage’s available floor space.
“It’s like a computer playing chess, thinking ahead to its next move,” said Woody Nash, company director of global business development.
The system doubles a garage’s capacity. A new garage can be built at half the size of a conventional parking deck and without the ventilation required because the car engines are off.
“I don’t have to hunt around for a parking space or worry about who’s lurking around the corner,” Mr. Nash said.
It takes 45 seconds to 4 minutes for the robots to retrieve a car, but you can call ahead to have it ready when you arrive — yes, there’s an app for that.
